A Day in the Life

Chick-fil-A Leader

As a Chick-fil-A Leader, you’re responsible for both running the operations AND fostering the growth and development of your team. Your leadership is rooted in the principles of being Hungry, Humble, and Smart.

Team Development and Mentorship

Hungry

As a Hungry leader, you are constantly looking for ways to improve—both for yourself and your team. You are driven to develop your team members, setting high standards and challenging them to grow. You’re not satisfied with just getting by; you want your team to excel. You actively seek opportunities to teach, coach, and mentor, pouring into each team member’s growth with energy and passion.

Humble

Your Humility as a leader is what sets the tone for the team. You understand that leadership is about serving others. You put the needs of your team above your own, and you’re never too proud to admit when you’re wrong or to ask for help. You lead by example, showing that no task is beneath you and that success is a collective effort.

Smart

Being Smart in your leadership role means having the emotional intelligence to understand your team’s needs. You communicate effectively, reading the room and knowing when to push your team to improve and when to support them. You recognize each team member’s unique strengths and weaknesses, tailoring your approach to bring out the best in everyone. You’re adept at handling conflicts and maintaining a positive, productive work environment.

Creating a Challenging Yet Fun Environment

Hungry

Your Hunger drives you to create a high-performance culture where people are challenged to grow. You set clear goals and hold your team accountable to high standards, but you also create an environment where fun and positivity are part of the daily routine. You’re passionate about pushing the team to be better while keeping the atmosphere engaging and rewarding.

Humble

Your Humility shines as you recognize the efforts of your team, giving credit where it’s due and celebrating others’ successes. You understand that the success of the restaurant is not about you but about the team as a whole. You foster a culture of shared achievement, where everyone feels valued and motivated to give their best.

Smart

Being Smart means knowing how to maintain a balance between challenge and support. You know when to push your team and when to offer encouragement. You create an environment where team members feel safe to take risks, make mistakes, and learn. Your emotional intelligence helps you gauge the morale of your team and make adjustments to keep them motivated and engaged.

Operational Excellence and Accountability

Hungry

As a leader with Hunger, you’re constantly looking for ways to improve operations. You stay engaged in every detail, from team performance to guest satisfaction, and you lead by example in maintaining high standards.

Humble

Your Humility allows you to accept feedback from your team, recognizing that you don’t have all the answers. You create an open environment where ideas and improvements can come from anyone, fostering a collaborative atmosphere.

Smart

Being Smart as a leader means understanding how to communicate goals, expectations, and feedback in a way that resonates with your team. You know how to manage personalities and situations to get the best results, while still maintaining a positive and respectful culture.

As a leader, your day ends with the fulfillment of knowing you’ve embraced being Hungry, Humble, and Smart. Your Hunger drove you to push both yourself and your team toward continuous improvement, always looking for ways to grow. You stayed Humble, leading with a servant’s heart, valuing the contributions of every team member, and fostering a culture of respect and collaboration. Your Smartness helped you navigate the complex dynamics of leadership, understanding how to communicate effectively and manage your team’s needs. You leave knowing that you’ve made a lasting impact on both the success of the restaurant and the personal development of your team members.
